This is ‘Town of Terracotta’ (famous for Terracotta temples). It also has numerous handlooms where an art of making of a Balucheri and Sonacheri Sarees can be witnessed.
The nearest airport is Kolkata. There are a few trains which reach Bishnupur in approximately 3 and half hours. Alternatively, if someone wants to come to Bishnupur without touching Kolkata then one can get down at Kharagpur and then catch a connecting train.

Typical itinerary:
Day 1: Reach Kolkata by flight. Check in at the hotel. Half a day local sightseeing tour.
Day 2: After a breakfast, go for a heritage tour in the city where you shall see structures and places from the Colonial era and know its history. After early lunch proceed to Bishnupur.
Day 3: After a breakfast spend the whole day at Bishnupur visiting Terracotta temples and handlooms.
Day 4: After breakfast, return to Kolkata for onward journey.
